Production Methods

Hot-Dip Method

The tank temperature is maintained between 670–710°C to prevent slag formation. Silicon (5–10%) is added to improve plasticity.

Two types of coated plates (Type I and Type II) are produced. Their alloy layers range from 70–150 g/m². The price of aluminized steel depends on the coating method and alloy content.

Electrophoretic Method

Developed in the U.K. in 1962, this process evenly applies aluminum powder to steel using electrophoresis. The material is then rolled and sintered, creating a non-porous aluminum layer. This improves formability.

While the hot-dip method is more economical, research continues in the U.S. to develop Al-Zn-Si and Al-Ti alloy coatings for better heat and corrosion resistance. Advanced coating technologies help suppliers improve performance in harsh environments.
